Assurance & Obedience - God Promises Deliverance
Exodus 5:22-7:13, Phil. 2:8, John 14:15

Moses brings his disappointment to God, and God assures him of his call and commission, yet Moses continues to worry. However, obedience to God is the only faithful way forward, and God makes this clear by declaring again and again, “I am the Lord” – therefore obey what I command.” So, Moses and Aaron go forward in obedience. Do we go forward in obedience?

The Exodus is the foundational story of God’s people, the Jews. It formed their identity as the chosen people and powerfully illustrated God’s identity as a God who saves. The book of Exodus is filled with stories of the faith of God’s people being forged that still speak powerfully today, and from which we can learn much. However, the Exodus also foreshadowed of an even greater rescue. The Jews were saved from literal slavery and brought into a literal promised land. Hundreds of years later, Jesus would save us from spiritual slavery to sin and bring us into the spiritual promised land of heaven. So, as we walk through the book of Exodus, we’ll also take note of how this story sets the stage for Jesus coming to be our Lord and Savior.

You Can’t Win Them All - Bricks Without Straw

Moses finally goes to Pharaoh but isn’t successful. Sometimes obedience leads to suffering before it leads to blessing; sometimes this is God’s plan, and sometimes our own failings are a part of it. Are we able to be faithful even when we aren’t successful?

God’s Commission
