A sailor on the USS Abraham Lincoln, Szramowski, is admitting to selling fake oxycodone laced with fentanyl—even after one of his victims died. He tried to cover it up by pressuring the family to delete texts and even suggested he could be charged with murder. The victim’s fiancée found only nine pills out of ten purchased, and later confirmed they were laced. His wife, also a sailor, is pleading guilty too, allegedly directing another overdose victim to lie about where they got drugs. Both face heavy prison time: Szramowski possibly 5 to 40 years, his wife up to 20. This case exposes the deadly consequences of drug deception aboard a military ship.

Lumina’s deceptive health supplement ads targeting older adults have landed them in hot water with the FTC, which issued a stern warning after they made outrageous, unsubstantiated claims about curing serious diseases. This isn’t their first rodeo—past regulatory run-ins suggest they haven’t learned, and the FTC is watching closely, ready to escalate penalties if they don’t stop misleading consumers. The fallout can be costly and dangerous, especially for vulnerable seniors who may delay real medical care. The FTC demands Lumina cease all false or unsupported health claims immediately—or face serious consequences. It’s a wake-up call for the entire wellness industry: honesty matters, and regulators won’t tolerate hype over health.

After a bitter 2022 mayoral race, Rick Caruso and Mayor Karen Bass are putting their feud on hold—at least for now—as they jointly break ground on a new recreation center replacing one destroyed in a fire. Caruso, who poured over $100 million into his losing campaign, praised Bass’s leadership at the event but remained mum on endorsing her re-election bid, calling both her and challenger Nithya Raman “tough choices.” While he’s still critical of some city policies and plans to meet with Raman, his tone is noticeably warmer, reflecting a possible pivot as election day nears.
