Bible Places in Israel — Episode 1: Jerusalem
Have you ever wondered why Jerusalem is so important in the Bible?
Jerusalem is not simply an ancient city. It is one of the most important places in the entire story of the Bible.
Jerusalem became known as the City of David after King David captured it and made it the capital of Israel. Later, David’s son Solomon built the Temple there. For the Jewish people, Jerusalem became the center of worship and a symbol of God’s presence among His people.
But Jerusalem becomes even more important in the New Testament.
Jesus traveled to Jerusalem many times. And at the end of His earthly ministry, He deliberately went there, knowing what was waiting for Him.
Jesus entered Jerusalem, was betrayed, arrested, and crucified. He died on the cross for our sins.
But the story did not end at the cross.
On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead.
That means Jerusalem is connected not only with the suffering of Jesus, but also with the greatest victory in history—the resurrection.
There is something very important for us to learn from Jerusalem.
Sometimes, following God means walking toward something difficult.
Jesus knew that the road to Jerusalem would lead to the cross, but He did not turn back. He trusted the Father and willingly obeyed His will.
Perhaps you are facing a difficult road today. Maybe you don’t understand why God has allowed something to happen. Maybe you are afraid of what lies ahead.
Remember Jerusalem.
The road that looked like defeat became the road to victory.
The cross looked like the end, but God was preparing the resurrection.
So don’t measure God’s faithfulness by how easy your circumstances are.
Instead, trust the One who is walking with you.
Jerusalem reminds us that God can turn suffering into victory, and what looks like the end may actually be the beginning of something greater.
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, help us trust You when the road is difficult. Give us courage to follow You, even when we cannot see what is ahead. Help us remember the cross, believe in the resurrection, and place our lives completely in Your hands.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
