🎿 One chalet. A different ski resort every day. Could this be the ultimate way to ski the French Alps?

In Episode 35 of The CarveCast, I’m joined by Jules Heaton, the ski enthusiast behind Chalet Wonderland, to explore why the Tarentaise Valley makes such an exciting base for a ski safari.

Jules and her husband set out to build a chalet that would give them access to the skiing they love, with space to bring friends and family together. A pandemic, delayed windows and an over-budget build later, Wonderland became a reality.

We talk Val d’Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Sainte-Foy and La Rosière — plus skiing across the border to La Thuile in Italy for lunch. From huge linked ski areas to quieter tree-lined slopes, there’s an incredible amount of variety within reach of one base.

⛷️ In this episode: 🏔️ Why the Tarentaise is one of my favourite ski regions 🏡 The story behind building Chalet Wonderland 🇮🇹 Skiing from France to Italy for lunch 🌨️ Choosing a resort to suit the weather and your group 🎟️ Ski à la Carte and flexible lift passes 🍝 Mountain restaurants and eating well on a ski holiday 🧘 Women’s ski and Pilates retreats and catered ski safaris ☀️ Why the Alps are worth visiting in summer

We also look ahead to my December visit, when I’m hoping to explore as much of the area as possible. If you love the idea of getting more variety out of your next ski trip, this conversation will get you counting down to winter.
