    Lux Radio Theatre presents “Only Yesterday,” episode 479, originally broadcast on CBS on April 16, 1945. This Lux adaptation of the 1933 Universal film stars Ida Lupino and Robert Young, with Edward G. Robinson serving as guest host.

    Set against the World War I era, the prosperous 1920s, and the turmoil of the 1929 stock-market crash, the drama follows a businessman drawn back to a brief but consequential wartime romance. Adapted for radio by George Wells, the story explores memory, marriage, money, and the lasting weight of the past. Robinson’s opening also reflects the national mourning following President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s death four days earlier.
