    Herbert Marshall and Madeleine Carroll star as Robert and Jane Marryot, an affluent English couple whose household reflects the changing character of Britain from the turn of the twentieth century into the 1930s. David Niven and Una O’Connor co-star in this sweeping drama of family, class, and time’s passage; Noël Coward also makes a brief appearance from New York’s National Theatre.
