The Ol’ Dirty Basement crew is back with another Vintage Cinema Review, and this time we’re hitting the mat with the 1985 cult classic Vision Quest.

Matthew Modine stars as Louden Swain, a high school wrestler who sets out on a near-impossible mission to drop weight and take on the legendary Shute. Along the way, his life gets a lot more complicated when Carla, played by Linda Fiorentino, rolls into town.

We revisit the movie’s memorable characters, wrestling scenes, ’80s style, filming locations, behind-the-scenes facts and one seriously great soundtrack — featuring Red Rider’s “Lunatic Fringe” and Madonna performing “Crazy for You.”
