  • Your Business Is Making Money...But Is It Ready to Replace Your Salary?
    2026/10/06
    Your business is making money.
    Great.
But is it making enough for you to quit your job?
In this episode of Office Hours with Izzy Baker, we’re having a real conversation about entrepreneurship, revenue, profitability, financial stability, client income, self-employment, and the numbers you should understand before you turn in your resignation.

One $5,000 month can feel like proof that you’re ready. A big client can make entrepreneurship suddenly look more profitable than your paycheck. But revenue isn’t profit, one great month isn’t a salary, and your best month shouldn’t become the foundation for your entire life.

Izzy Baker breaks down what entrepreneurs should examine before making the jump: what you actually keep after business expenses, whether you can reproduce your income consistently, how dependent you are on one major client, what happens during a slow month, and the benefits and expenses that become your responsibility once the job disappears.
    Because the question isn’t just:
    Can my business make money?

It’s: Can my business consistently support my life and itself?

Before you start writing that resignation letter, put your business through four tests:
The Profit Test: What do you actually keep after expenses?
The Consistency Test: Can you reproduce the income across multiple months?
The Shock Test: Could you survive a slow month or losing a major client?
The Replacement Test: Can the business replace more than your paycheck — including the stability and benefits you’re giving up?
Then pull your numbers from the last 6–12 months. Look at your revenue, expenses, taxes, savings, client concentration, and the real cost of supporting your life. Don’t make the decision based on an Instagram-worthy month. Make it based on a pattern.
And if the numbers say you’re not ready yet, that doesn’t mean your business is failing.
It might just mean your job still has a role to play in the strategy.
Listen to the full episode, send it to an entrepreneur thinking about quitting their job, and follow Office Hours with Izzy Baker for conversations about building a real business without the fake guru talk.

  • Here Are the Signs It Might Be Time to Leave Your Job
    2026/10/06
How do you know when it’s actually time to leave your job?In this episode of Office Hours with Izzy Baker, we’re having a real conversation about career transitions, entrepreneurship, job dissatisfaction, professional growth, workplace stress, exit strategies, and knowing when a job has stopped serving where you’re trying to go.Social media can make quitting look dramatic: walk into the boss’s office, resign, chase your dream, and somehow everything works out. But being tired of your job is a feeling.Being prepared to leave is a strategy.Izzy Baker breaks down the signs that you may have outgrown your current position, including hitting a professional ceiling, losing opportunities to grow, sacrificing too much time and energy, staying primarily because of fear, or realizing that your job has become the biggest limitation on a growing business. But leaving doesn’t automatically mean becoming a full-time entrepreneur.Your next move could be a better job, a completely different career, or finally taking your business full-time. The goal isn’t simply to escape something you hate — it’s to move toward something that better supports the life you’re trying to build. Before making a decision, score your current job in five areas: money, growth, alignment, energy, and opportunity. Then ask yourself one uncomfortable question:If nothing about this job changed for the next two years, would I still choose to stay?If the answer is yes, keep building. If the answer is no, don’t walk in tomorrow and quit. Start creating an exit destination. Determine what needs to be in place — another offer, savings, consistent business revenue, benefits, recurring clients, a stronger network, or a clearer career direction — before making your move.Don’t leave because you’re emotional.
Don’t stay because you’re comfortable.Know what the job is giving you, understand what it’s costing you, and know where you’re going next.Listen to the full episode, share it with someone questioning their next career move, and follow Office Hours with Izzy Baker for more conversations about entrepreneurship, career growth, and building something meaningful without the fake guru talk.

  • Don't Let Your Job Kill Your Business
    2026/09/29
What happens when you still believe in your business… but you’re simply too tired to build it?In this episode of Office Hours with Izzy Baker, we’re having a real conversation about entrepreneurship, working a job, burnout, energy management, productivity, content creation, and learning how to keep your business moving when your capacity changes. You work all day, deal with customers, coworkers, meetings, students, deadlines, or physical labor — and then come home expecting yourself to magically become a CEO. Sometimes you don’t have a time-management problem.\

You have an energy-management problem.Izzy Baker breaks down why entrepreneurs with jobs may need to rethink how they operate —from identifying business non-negotiables and batching content to protecting your most productive hours, becoming more selective with clients, and building a schedule around the life you actually have, not the life you used to have. Because the goal isn’t maximum output. It’s sustainable output. So instead of trying to do everything, ask yourself: What is the minimum my business needs from me every week to keep moving?

For the next seven days, track three things: your time, your energy, and your impact. Figure out when you actually have room to work, when your brain is at its best, and which activities genuinely move your business forward. Then build your schedule around that intersection. Your job doesn’t have to kill your business. But your business may need a different version of you in this season. Adjust the system. Protect your energy. Keep the vision.Listen to the full episode, share it with an entrepreneur trying to balance work and business without burning out, and follow Office Hours with Izzy Baker for more conversations about building something meaningful while figuring life out at the same time.
