The Oddjob Pod continues its While They Were Bond series with Pierce Brosnan's 2001 spy thriller The Tailor of Panama.

Based of a novel by John le Carre and with a stellar ensemble cast including Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis, The Tailor of Panama is a significant departure from the usual spy fiction that we came to expect from Brosnan's Bond canon. We all thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into this compelling drama.

Gary, Graham and Terry dissect Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi action flick, Starship Troopers.

The Action Movie Landfill is heading to Tombstone. AND HELL’S RIDING WITH US!

George P Cosmatos’ 1993 western, retelling that great mythologised tale of the Gunfight at the OK Corral has been fished out of the landfill for full evaluation and appreciation.

Tombstone had a troubled production and there are elements that unravel sufficiently to deny it a place as one of the greatest westerns of all time. That said, our esteem for this film has few limits so if you're down on this movie then you best discard your red sash and head for the hills.

The Oddjob Pod crew have emerged from the Action Movie Landfill clutching another nineties classic. Enemy of the State (1998) is a Washington DC political thriller about a rogue cell within the NSA who are on the hunt for a lawyer who has accidentally come into possession of a tape that incriminates a senior NSA figure (Jon Voight) in the murder of a senator.

A central theme to the film is the politics of surveillance and the limits of personal freedom in a democracy. The film co-stars Gene Hackman who also starred in the similarly-themed, The Conversation (1974). There are direct call-backs to that film in Enemy of the State.

The film also boasts one of the greatest cameo appearances in the history of cinema.

Woo arrived in Hollywood with a reputation for high-octane Hong Kong action movies, and just a year later he’d cement his legacy with the classic Face/Off, once again teaming up with John Travolta. But how much does Broken Arrow serve as a warm-up for Face/Off — or is the stronger link to screenwriter Graham Yost, the man who wrote the script for Speed?
