Fr. John Hodgson reminded us that a Novena is a time of waiting, praying and trusting in God. Through Diane's story, he showed how fear can be transformed into thanksgiving when we recognize that "God doesn't hurt us" but offers healing and grace. Like Diane, we are invited to hold our worries in God's loving heart through Mary.

As the Redemptorists enter a time of change, we accompany them in prayer and trust. "God holds a mystery," and Mary brings us to Jesus, sending us forth to proclaim "the good things that God has done" in our lives.

“Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love “- St Mother Teresa.

St. Mother Teresa is an exemplary example of a missionary disciple, but she understood that charity begins at home. But of course, Mother Mary is the first and perfect missionary disciple. After the annunciation, Mary went in haste and carried Jesus to bring joy to her cousin Elizabeth.

Mary teaches us that when we carry Jesus our heart, we bring the presence of Jesus to others especially to the ones who do not know Him. We can make a spiritual impact to people we meet each day.

Mother Mary shows us that true devotion matures into discipleship. We are all called not only to pray and intercede for others but to invite them to encounter Jesus through Mary by the witness of our lives and hopefully lead them to their own experience of Jesus through the Novena Devotion and the upcoming Annual Procession.

Saturday Novena Devotion by Br. Celestine Toh, C.Ss.R (29 August 2026)

In this homily, Fr. Peter Wee reflected on Jesus' call: "You will be my witnesses." Christian life is not only about "me and Jesus," but about bringing Christ to the world through our words, character, behaviour, and daily encounters.

Like Mary, whose faithful life proclaimed God's love even in silence, we are called to be credible witnesses wherever. Our patience, kindness, speech and treatment of others - at home, at work, of even while waiting in queue - should reveal God's presence.

Fr. Peter reminded us that the Gospel must first transform us before it can be recognized through us. Like Mary, may we become credible witnesses of Jesus - not only by what we say, but by the lives we lead.
