Family shapes us in ways that we are keenly aware of, and also beneath the surface of how we see ourselves, others, and approach daily life. Christmas surfaces many of the fond influences of our families, and it also surfaces much of the pain that we still carry. At Christmas, we celebrate Jesus’ birth, but His birth shouldn’t be isolated from the family He was born into. This Sunday, we’ll see how family shapes us but doesn’t define us, and how Jesus redeems our familiesby inviting us into His.
