Richard and Christian join John Diaz and Tanner Schuehle in Medina County, Texas, for an inside look at an incredible Archaic archaeological camp that continues to reveal its secrets through ongoing excavation.

In this episode of the Native Ways Podcast, we dive into the topographical layout of the site, how the location was originally discovered, and what made this particular area attractive for repeated prehistoric occupation. John and Tanner walk us through the evidence of the different occupations represented at the site and explain how the landscape and archaeological record help piece together what happened here thousands of years ago.

We also take a closer look at some of the incredible artifacts recovered during the excavations, discussing what they can tell us about the people who lived, hunted, worked, and traveled through this region.

From understanding the landscape to uncovering artifacts buried beneath it, this episode offers a fascinating look into Central and South Texas archaeology, Archaic-period camps, prehistoric lifeways, and the ongoing process of archaeological excavation.

Whether you’re interested in arrowheads, Texas archaeology, artifact hunting, prehistoric Texas, or the history of the people who came before us, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.
