Fair warning — this episode comes with kids, popsicles, ice cream bars, a cheese spider, a sound bar maxed to 85, and one very determined toddler who does not care that we're recording. This is the most SAHDad episode we've ever made. And it's one of my favorites.

This week's guest is my wife Moe. And before you ask — it was her idea.

Moe grew up in Bridgeport, Illinois. Population under two thousand. Sixty three kids in her graduating class. No Walmart. No soccer program. No access to much of anything. But a family reputation that kept her honest, a faith that kept her grounded, and a small community that gave a painfully shy girl room to become someone.

She was the only member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her high school for a time. She drove thirty minutes into Indiana just to go to church. She navigated summer softball schedules that didn't care about her Sunday commitments. And she sat out of a tournament game — as their starting first baseman — because her family chose faith over the field.

And she still looks back on that with peace.

We talk about what it was like growing up LDS in a town that small. We talk about how her reputation as the only member in her school shaped the way people around her acted — bonfires with Sprite instead of alcohol, a friend who signed her yearbook saying thanks for helping me stop cussing. We talk about how she almost went to BYU and how a missionary named Rob Robbins changed everything by simply opening his mouth and talking about a small school in Virginia.

We talk about SVU — driving up the hill on a spring break trip, seeing Main Hall, and knowing instantly. Trying out for three sports in one day. Losing by fifteen to Coastal Carolina and going to Outback Steakhouse where Coach Harmon ate a bloomin' onion by himself for dinner.

We talk about the chaos of year one in Arizona — learning to teach with no certification, learning to coach, learning to be married adults in the real world all at the same time. And how year two felt like a completely different life.

We talk about motherhood. We talk about the butterfly effect — how not playing basketball at SVU meant being available for the intro to business class after lunch where we met. And how six kids deep, she wouldn't trade any of it.

Oh — and baby number six is on the way.

Her one piece of advice to close it all out: no matter what you're pursuing, keep the Lord involved. He'll help you know when to go deeper and when to move on.

This episode is everything the SAHDad Podcast was built for. Faith. Family. Sports. And home — in every sense of the word.
