Welcome to Telling Great Stories. I'm Nate Campbell, and my grandfather Tom was the best storyteller I'd ever met in my life. He passed away in 2021, and nobody ever told his stories in a book, or really in a magazine article, or anywhere other than just around circles that knew Tom.

Currently, I'm writing a book teaching the framework of my grandpa Tom and his storytelling abilities. This podcast is about telling great stories. It's not tomorrow. This podcast will be posted the following day.

I want to give you a piece of advice today that really helped me in being able to do more with less time. I think we all understand that time is our most valuable resource. We have one life. We have a limited amount of time, and some days are just too damn busy to post a podcast episode. Some days are too damn busy to post a YouTube video. I'm also doing a YouTube video every day as well as a podcast episode every day.

This podcast episode is recorded right after I recorded my intro because a mentor of mine named Russell Brunson taught me that. The real guy Frank Abignail behind the movie Catch Me If You Can, was interviewed about how he was able to teach some very complicated college courses, and he said it was easy. I just needed to be one week ahead of the students.

If you're out there trying to build a personal brand, you're trying to do more with who you are. All you need to do is stay one day ahead or one week ahead of whoever you're teaching. Me recording day 2 on the same day I record day 1 is me getting ahead of that, because there are going to be days where it's just like, "You know what? I cannot do this today." You need to have a backlog to be prepared for those days.

As you start to do the thing and you start to reframe it that way, it's like, "Oh, whoa, okay." Once you fall short, you still have that advantage.

How's your New Year's Resolution going from January 2026? When damnit I missed a day, how do we keep going? If we miss a day and don't hit the goal that day, we can stop the old patterns by get ahead of things.

Take the time to get ahead of time when you have it. I record podcast episodes as I drive.

Podcasts can reach so many more people than you can in person, I just was at a 300 person conference and met 30 people.

It's just you and a phone and a great way to connect and help so many people.

This is why I'm leaving my corporate world and going all in on this podcast, going all in on coaching, going all in on writing a book, going all in on Helping People Tell Stories.

In my heart my calling from God is to help people tell stories.

So I take a few minutes to tell the story behind that story.

It started with a remodel of a house that meant a lot to me. It was home as a kid for me, this house was home. It was my grandfather's home from 25 - 85. The home I was remodeling was my grandpa Tom's home and we needed help.

I'd never done tile, my friend Kevin Groves volunteered over a weekend to come help tile the bathroom.

We stayed up until 3 am every night getting it done and the last night, I'd promised to take him bass fishing and I said let's get up at 5.

He said okay, I'm in. Well I slept in and I found him reading a book on Grass fed Beef when I woke up at 6.

We chatted a bit then went fishing. At the time I was selling grass-fed beef direct to consumer and we'd been getting quite a few customers, including him and his wife Tasha.

He asked me the most profound question. He asked... What would you do with your time if money wasn't a thing.

I didn't hesitate, I would tell the stories of farmers and ranchers because right now my grandpa Tom has dimensia and there's no books about him, hardly any newspaper clippings and no articles about him. I would tell the stories of farmers and ranchers because his never got told. This was in 2018.

I told myself I'd start a podcast, I told myself I'd write a book and none of them happened.

It's 2026 and they are happening. I've burned the boats!!

Welcome to day 2 of the podcast.
