It was exceptional at its founding and, through it's guaranteed rights, provided a place where a person could succeed no matter who their family was and without having to ask permission. America is not perfect and there are some who would ignore the "unalianable right" described in the Declaration of Independence and guaranteed by the Constitution to further their own ambitions.
