Mad’tober continues as Kevin, Dan, Bearclaw, and Logan review Scott Derrickson’s supernatural horror movie starring Ethan Hawke. We debate the disturbing Super 8 home movies, THAT lawnmower jump scare, Ellison’s terrible parenting, and whether creepy kids and Bagul’s complicated rules help or hurt the horror. Pool parties and yard work may never feel the same.

But first… free lessons at Bagul’s Boogie Dance Studio! The guys need to perfect their Thriller reenactment, armed with workout tassels, a red leather jacket, and a dangerously tight leisure suit. What could possibly go wrong? Besides every attempt to pronounce Bagul.

“We All Go Mad” Theme Music by Nathan

This week on Straitjacket Talk, we're joined by Bearclaw from the Mouths of Madness Podcast to revisit Terry Gilliam’s apocalyptic time-travel mind-bender starring Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, and Madeleine Stowe.

We’re breaking down the insanity: Is James Cole actually crazy? Does time travel make ANY sense? Did Cole accidentally help cause the apocalypse? What exactly was the Army of the 12 Monkeys responsible for? And most importantly… why does a movie called 12 Monkeys have a suspicious lack of actual monkeys?

We also dig into Brad Pitt’s absolutely unhinged performance, Bruce Willis showing off some serious dramatic chops, the movie’s bizarre visuals, its surprisingly funny moments, that unforgettable ending, and whether 12 Monkeys deserves to be considered a sci-fi horror classic.
