We speak to retiring teacher Henry Walker, who has been a teacher in the Middle School since 1971. We also enjoyed a long conversation with Coleman Ikenberry, alum, child of teachers, and current science teacher in the Middle School. Along with a panel discussion where the student consider change over the course of months rather than generations, it is full of different voices.

Experienced podcasters Evelyn and Averie spoof true crime and investigative journalism podcasts with an episode on the Middle School attic! Over the course of the fifteen minute episode, they use mystery and humor to explore what could be - and what is - in the attic.

As an added bonus, they sit down for an extended interview with CFS Director of Facilities Mark Shanahan to gather his professional opinion. By the end of the episode, you too will be an expert on all things attic!

In February 2024, CFS welcomed artist-in-residence Susan Stein for a week of study. Susan worked primarily with 4Y students in the Middle School, and 9th graders in the Upper School. While on-site, Susan sat with Morning Friends podcasters Tatum and Catherine, alongside sound engineer Max for an extended interview.

Susan focuses her work on the Holocaust, Japanese-American imprisonment camps, prison systems, resistance movements, and anti-hate work. Her primary tool is Etty, a one-woman play using the diaries of Etty Hillesum, a Dutch Jewish woman who died during the Holocaust. Susan performed Etty twice while on campus for the week.

Join podcasting duo Averie and Evelyn in their quest to learn about about fantastic Lower School Head Teacher Jenni! Along the way, you'll learn about Jenni's first career, initial connection to CFS, and how she celebrates Christmas with her family. You'll also get a chance to hear positive affirmations abut Jenni directly from Lower School students. These nine minutes (almost entirely edited by Averie and Evelyn themselves) will fly by!

Join Vinny, Kelby, Max, and Oliver as they take you on a culinary adventure across Carolina Friends School's lunch program. This year CFS has welcomed Yay Lunch, a school lunch provider that offers daily lunch delivery service for schools across the country. We will hear about students' favorite lunches that they have tried, while also speaking with Assistant to the Head of School Leigh, who helps to coordinate the day-to-day logistics of this new option for our community. This is also our first podcast that was entirely edited by students! Join us for this most delicious of episodes!

Join Breeze, Leo, Ben, Kade, and Shon as they explore the ins and outs of the athletics program at Carolina Friends. They will provide a synopsis of several middle school athletic teams and interview students about their participation in sports.
