  • DWDP-Gen 18: 1-15 Is Anything Too Hard for God?

A promise so big it sounds absurd, a laugh whispered behind a tent flap, and a God who answers doubt with one unforgettable question: “Is anything too difficult for the Lord?” We open Genesis 18:1–15 at the oaks of Mamre and slow down long enough to feel the weight of it, holy God drawing near to Abraham like it’s the most natural thing in the world, while we’re left stunned that the Maker of heaven and earth speaks to a man.

We talk through the mysterious moment of three visitors at Abraham’s tent door, why Scripture later clarifies two are angels, and what that means for how we think about God’s power and presence. That leads us straight into the heart of Christian hope: if God can send His messengers, and if John 1:14 is true that the Word became flesh, then our “impossible” is not a problem for Him. Along the way, we also linger on Abraham’s bold hospitality, and I share a personal Middle East memory that makes the ancient scene feel strikingly current.

Then the spotlight turns to Sarah. She laughs to herself, tries to deny it, and learns what we all eventually face: God hears what we keep hidden. We unpack why Genesis 18:14 is a mountain-peak verse, including the richness of the Hebrew word that can also be understood as “wonderful,” and we end with a direct call toward humility, confession, and freedom when the Holy Spirit convicts.

  • MTM-Interview with Dr Heidi Klessig MD The Brain Death Fallacy Part One
    2026/10/17

A warm body with a beating heart is brought to the operating room, labeled “brain dead,” and still requires anesthesia that looks exactly like the care we give the living. That moment changed Dr. Heidi Klessig, a retired anesthesiologist and pain specialist, and it launched her deep dive into the ethics of organ donation, organ procurement, and the medical meaning of death.

We walk through how “brain death” entered modern medicine, why the 1968 Harvard proposal mattered, and how the dead donor rule is supposed to protect public trust. Along the way, we compare the legal standard in the Uniform Determination of Death Act to the realities of bedside testing, including what guidelines do and do not measure, what counts as “irreversible,” and why families may be making life-and-death decisions without true informed consent. We also talk about the high stakes: if a patient is declared dead, basic human rights protections can vanish in an instant.

Then we get practical and specific. Dr. Klessig explains cases of recovery, including Zach Dunlap, and the physiology behind “global ischemic penumbra,” a brain “power outage” where function can disappear before tissue is destroyed. We also discuss the 2023 American Academy of Neurology brain death guideline, the subjectivity of interpreting movement, the risks of the apnea test, and what recent events like the TJ Hoover case and Kentucky’s pause law suggest about where policy may be headed.

If you’ve ever checked the organ donor box, faced an ICU decision, or simply want ethical clarity on organ transplantation, this conversation will challenge your assumptions. • DWDP-Gen 17:17-27 God Promises, Abraham Obeys
    2026/10/14

A promise that sounds impossible can expose what we really believe. We open Genesis 17:15–27 with Abraham and Sarah, where God renames Sarai as Sarah “princess,” then declares that this elderly, barren couple will have a son. Abraham laughs, suggests a more practical plan through Ishmael, and God answers with a clear “No” and a stronger “Yes” while naming the child in advance: Isaac, “he laughs.”

Then we zoom into one of the most surprising faith and medicine connections in the Bible. As a physician, I unpack why God’s command to circumcise on the eighth day is not arbitrary: vitamin K, vital for normal blood clotting, is low at birth and rises by day eight. That same reality is why newborns receive a vitamin K injection today, and why missing it can lead to frightening spontaneous bleeding. Scripture and physiology meet in a way that points to a Creator who sees what we cannot.

We also wrestle with the covenant itself: Isaac is chosen as the heir of the everlasting covenant, yet Ishmael is still heard, blessed, and multiplied. The episode closes with one of the clearest takeaways in the passage: Abraham obeys immediately and leads his whole household to do the same day they receive the command. I end with a direct challenge to pray honestly, ask where we are holding back, and trust Jesus enough to obey.
