🎙 In This Monologue of the 2 Worlds Collide Podcast, I break down what I believe is the Albanese Government’s plan for mass censorship in Australia, hidden behind the language of “online safety” and the Digital Duty of Care Bill.
I pull apart the proposed laws, the powers surrounding the eSafety Commissioner, government-authorised “sock puppet” accounts, algorithms and what this could mean for free speech and political debate online.
They can dress it up however they like. I believe this is about giving government and regulators greater power over what Australians see, say and share online.
This is bigger than online safety. Australians need to understand what is being proposed before these powers become law.
