Mike D drops his first solo album, Thank You, 40 years after Beastie Boys’ debut—inspired by watching his kids in the studio and channeling his old-school vibe with quirky gear. He shares a heartfelt memory of meeting Dolly Parton at her birthday party, where legends like Bob Dylan and Dionne Warwick were present, praising her grace and professionalism. With Dolly’s recent passing at 80, Mike pays tribute to her as a legendary songwriter and humanitarian. This marks his first major release since 2011’s Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, following the tragic loss of MCA. He performed tracks “Make It Stop” and “That’s Right” on late-night TV, and the 13-song album includes singles like “Switch Up” and “True Colors.”
