Michigan’s top five-star recruit Brandon McCoy Jr. suffered a devastating setback when he underwent ACL surgery on his right knee, ending his 2024-25 season hopes and casting doubt on his immediate future with the team. Once seen as a cornerstone for Michigan’s offense and a key piece in their rebuilding plan, McCoy’s absence leaves a massive void in the backcourt. With the program also navigating a recent coaching change, the Wolverines now face an uphill battle to adjust their strategy without him. While recovery is underway under the care of a respected surgeon, expectations are high that McCoy could return for the 2027-28 season — but for now, the focus shifts to how Michigan’s roster adapts and rises to the challenge.
