Over 420,000 Americans ages 12 and up experience sexual abuse each year, according to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, Nearly every minute, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. Every nine minutes, that someone is a child. Melanie Richards, director of the Kids Talk Children's Advocacy Center, joins Michigan Voices. St Joseph's Helpers is an organization founded on Christian values, made up of men and women who volunteer their time and their talents to help those in need to feel safe and secure in their homes.     April 19, 2026 ~ April is Autism Acceptance & Awareness Month, and Autism Support of Michigan (formerly Autism Society of Michigan) has served individuals on the autism spectrum, along with their families, professionals, and educators, since 1976. Kathy Johnson, Board President of Autism Support of Michigan, joins Michigan Voices. The 17th annual Trade Secrets event, a fundraiser for Gesher Human Services’ many workforce initiatives for metro Detroit women, including career exploration, financial education, computer, and support services, will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. Trade Secrets is a vital fundraiser for Gesher’s flagship Women to Work program. Women to Work provides in-depth vocational assessment, employment-related group counseling, help with networking, resume writing, interviewing, and how to use AI in job searches, plus more. It is all aimed at helping women find jobs quickly, whether they are re-entering the workforce or in need of different employment.
