Sometimes one conversation can keep a broadcasting dream moving forward.
In 2010, Snowman wrote to Tim Roye through the Golden State Warriors website asking for advice. Tim, the longtime radio voice of the Warriors, responded by giving Snowman the telephone number of the hotel where he was staying during a trip to Chicago.
Snowman made the call.
What followed was a wonderful conversation about broadcasting, the profession, and the journey behind the microphone. Tim did not have to make himself available to an aspiring broadcaster, but he did. His generosity created a memory Snowman never forgot.
Four years later, their paths crossed again.
Snowman was covering a game between the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls at the United Center when Tim Roye walked into the building. Snowman finally had the opportunity to meet him in person, share a brief conversation, shake his hand, and thank the man who had taken the time to speak with him years earlier.
Now the story comes full circle.
In Episode 1 of Mic 2 Mic, Snowman finally welcomes the great Tim Roye to the program for the conversation he had hoped would happen for years.
They revisit the craft of broadcasting, the journey behind the microphone, the unforgettable moments that connect broadcasters across generations, and the generosity that can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.
Most importantly, much fun was had.
From a message through the Warriors website, to a telephone call at a Chicago hotel, to a handshake at the United Center, and finally to Mic 2 Mic, this is a conversation years in the making.
Two broadcasters. Two microphones. One full circle moment.
Join Snowman and Tim Roye for Episode 1 of Mic 2 Mic.
