Metanthropy is a future philosophy podcast about compassionate self-directed evolution.

Hosted by Max Nova, the show explores how humanity — and future sentient life — may move beyond biological limitation through science, technology, wisdom, and ethical imagination.

Metanthropy is not generic futurism, tech hype, AI panic, or cold transhumanist abstraction. It asks what the future means from both the objective standpoint of science, engineering, biology, neuroscience, AI, and biotechnology, and the subjective standpoint of lived experience: fear, love, death, identity, beauty, creativity, suffering, dignity, and meaning.

The podcast investigates artificial intelligence, longevity, brain-computer interfaces, genetic engineering, neurotechnology, robotics, synthetic biology, artificial sentience, space civilization, and the moral future of life itself.

Its central question is not merely what we can build.

It is what we should become.

Metanthropy begins from one conviction:

Humanity is precious, but not final.

  • AI Is Learning the Language of Life
    2026/07/29

Artificial intelligence is beginning to do more than analyze biological data. It is learning patterns across DNA, RNA, proteins, genomes and cellular behavior — then using those patterns to predict structures, generate new molecules and propose biological designs that may never have existed in nature.

In this episode of Metanthropy, Max Nova explores the rapidly emerging field of generative biology: from AlphaFold and protein language models to genomic AI, virtual cells, AI-designed proteins and synthetic phage genomes.

What does it really mean to say that AI is learning “the language of life”? How do biological foundation models work? Where does the analogy with human language break down? And how close are we to moving from reading biology to deliberately writing it?

This is not a story about machines replacing scientists. It is about a new scientific instrument capable of compressing evolutionary information, navigating enormous biological design spaces and accelerating the cycle between hypothesis, experiment and correction.

The age of computational biology is becoming the age of generative biology.

AI is learning to read the archive of evolution — and the first artificial sentences are beginning to live.

  • Designer Babies Are No Longer Science Fiction
    2026/07/08

Designer babies are no longer arriving through the science-fiction image we expected: not a cold laboratory where parents casually build perfect children from a genetic menu, but through quieter, more realistic technologies — IVF, embryo testing, genetic sequencing, embryo scoring, and polygenic prediction.

In this episode of Metanthropy, Max Nova explores the new reproductive frontier where possible children can be compared, ranked, and selected before birth. The question is not simply whether biotechnology can reduce suffering. In many cases, it can. The deeper danger is what happens when medicine, parental fear, market incentives, and optimization culture begin to merge.

Can embryo selection help families avoid devastating genetic disease? Yes. Can the same technological stack slide toward status competition, genetic consumerism, and a new form of biological inequality? Also yes.

This is not a simple argument against reproductive technology. It is a warning against treating the child as a product, the genome as destiny, and parental love as a market opportunity.

Designer babies are no longer science fiction. The future may begin in a clinic — but it must not end as a score.

  • The Biology of Decay
    2026/07/01

In this episode of Metanthropy, Max Nova explores aging not as poetry, destiny, or sacred natural order, but as a biological process of accumulated damage, declining repair, and shrinking human agency.

The Biology of Decay examines what happens inside the aging body: genomic instability, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, inflammaging, stem-cell exhaustion, epigenetic drift, and the gradual loss of resilience. But this is not a longevity hype episode. It is a Metanthropy threshold analysis: if parts of aging are modifiable, what does compassion require from us?

Aging may be natural, but nature is not morality. Decay may be familiar, but familiarity does not make suffering sacred. The real question is not whether humanity should worship youth or chase immortality, but whether we can reduce frailty, preserve dignity, extend healthspan, and fight biological decline without becoming cruel, vain, unequal, or delusional.

Compassion before power. Wisdom before transcendence. Mechanism before mythology.
