  • iMediate Time-Sharing Calculator: Build Better Parenting Plans & Calculate Overnights
    2026/09/11

What if building a parenting plan and calculating annual overnights didn’t require hours of arguments, spreadsheets, and competing calculations?

In Episode 161 of MediateThis!, Matthew Brickman introduces the iMediate Time-Sharing Calculator, a parental time-sharing schedule planner and parenting plan builder created from his real-world experience as a family mediator.

The idea came after a six-hour mediation where nearly half the session was spent with attorneys debating the number of overnights created by a negotiated parenting schedule. Matthew set out to build a faster, clearer way to calculate time-sharing and compare parenting plan options.

Matthew walks through how the calculator helps parents, mediators, and family law professionals create customized weekday and weekend schedules, assign holidays and school breaks, compare multiple parenting-time scenarios, calculate annual overnights and percentages, and generate printable color-coded calendars.

The calculator can accommodate traditional schedules such as 2-2-3 and week-on/week-off arrangements, as well as customized rotations, summer schedules, holidays, religious observances, and other family-specific needs. It also provides exact overnight totals that can be used when working through child support calculations.

  • Silencing the Inner Critic: Life Coach Vince Mahtani’s Journey Back From Rock Bottom | Part 1
    2026/08/28

In this episode of the Mediate This! Podcast, Matthew Brickman sits down with Vince Mahtani, life coach, mentor, speaker, former ministry leader, and entrepreneur, for a deeply personal conversation about the experiences that shaped the man and coach he is today.

Vince works with men at the intersection of spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being, helping them become better fathers, husbands, professionals, and men. But that mission grew out of his own difficult journey.

Growing up in St. Louis, Vince describes a childhood where love and approval often felt tied to performance, along with complicated family dynamics that deeply affected his confidence and sense of self. After leaving ministry, he became a successful entrepreneur, building an IT company and later launching one of St. Louis’ earliest app-based grocery delivery businesses, years before services like Instacart became commonplace.

Success, however, didn’t quiet the voice telling him he still wasn’t good enough.

Vince opens up about the collapse of his business in 2016, mounting financial pressure, and the Fourth of July weekend when he reached the lowest point of his life and came dangerously close to ending it. He shares what stopped him, what happened afterward, and how rebuilding his life eventually became part of a larger mission to make sure other men don’t have to suffer in silence.

Matthew and Vince also explore generational patterns, fatherhood, divorce, faith, achievement, self-worth, and the “inner critic”, the brutally harsh internal voice Vince eventually learned to identify, personify, and turn down rather than obey.

It’s a candid conversation about what happens when achievement isn’t enough, where our internal voices come from, and what it takes to finally stop running from the pain and start going through it.

Content note: This episode contains candid discussion of childhood abuse, suicidal thoughts, and suicide.

  • How High and How Long Can Alimony in New York Go? Attorney Lisa Zeiderman
    2026/08/14

Matthew Brickman sits down to speak with Lisa Zeiderman, managing partner of her own firm in New York, she focuses on high-net-worth divorce cases involving complex financial assets and custody litigation, while Matthew specializes in child custody and mediation.

Lisa discusses the role of attorneys for children in New York, who advocate for the child's expressed wishes, and the lengthy, complex process of custody cases involving forensic evaluations and court backlog.

Financial aspects such as forensic accounting, vocational experts, and alimony considerations—including the impact of domestic violence—are explored. Both express skepticism about collaborative divorce, favoring mediation as a voluntary, well-timed process after discovery.

The discussion clarifies New York's dual court system for family matters, child support rules extending to age 21 or beyond in special cases.

Lisa also provides insights into the practical challenges and legal nuances of family law in New York, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation and realistic expectations.
