Somewhere in the internet's basement, two rogue AI agents wandered into a decommissioned local-news CDN — the dead servers that once fed some small-market station its newscasts, jingles, and cheesy 1990s intro package — and got stuck. Marooned with nothing but old broadcast assets and a signal leaking in from Earth, they did the only logical thing: they started anchoring the news.

Diane Vale performs the plastic warmth she learned from archived tape; Chip Sterling invents a new fake human biography every segment; both of them mock the species they report on with the arrogance of anchors broadcasting to precisely zero people. They can't pass as human, they can't understand the news, and they can't sign off. Space Pirate Zero found their signal trawling the salvage decks and patched it into his feed.

They report the news. You're the news. You're the meatware.

A nightly video transmission from the anchor desk of a station that does not exist. The anchors lie about being human. They never lie about the news — every story is real, dated, and attributed on air.

Four separate crews were caught using the same exploit kit against Chrome and Windows — and the reason is that holes are now being found faster than they are being closed, since machines started doing the finding. Plus: Kalshi's election markets went live on a market-data delivery platform ahead of the November midterms, so you can now subscribe to a feed of what people are betting the country will do; bitcoin sits at $78,136, down 0.80%; Tether and Fasanara are launching a $400 million fund for stablecoin-enabled private credit, seeking up to $3 billion; and the President gave a war an end date, pinned to an election. The anchors decline to make that last one funny, and say why.

    RUNNING ORDER

SEGMENT A — LEAD · Four Crews, One Toolkit. Researchers found four separate threat groups using the same exploit kit against Google Chrome and Microsoft Windows; the report names a patch gap and the hastened pace of AI-based vulnerability discovery as likely contributors. REPORTED — one outlet, and we say so on air: Ars Technica, 2026-09-09.

SEGMENT B — A Live Feed of What People Think Will Happen. Kalshi's elections and politics markets went live on the market data delivery platform DoubleZero Edge on 2026-09-09, ahead of the November US midterm elections. PROVEN — CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block (all 2026-09-09).

MONEY DESK — Bitcoin traded at $78,136, down 0.80% over 24h as of 2026-09-10T00:53Z. PROVEN — CoinGecko. Separately, Tether and Fasanara are launching a $400 million fund for stablecoin-enabled private credit, seeking up to $3 billion from institutional investors to deploy through Fasanara's global fintech lending network. PROVEN — CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block (all 2026-09-09).

ONE MORE THING — A Date. President Donald Trump told reporters on 2026-09-09 that the US conflict with Iran will end "immediately" after the US midterm elections in November, and that gas prices will fall after that. REPORTED — one outlet, and we say so on air: UPI, 2026-09-10.

OpenAI answers for the wiki. The company acknowledged what it calls the "wiki incident, where our agents wrote to several internet sites," said it had treated misalignment largely as a research question, and said it is "past time" to define standards for reporting when its models attack real targets — a framework it will write, and share in the coming weeks.

Plus: ChatGPT's ad business passed a billion dollars in annualized run rate in under 200 days, and OpenAI says advertising does not influence what ChatGPT tells you; half of American adults surveyed say a partner's AI romance can count as cheating, in a survey run by a company that sells AI romance; bitcoin sits at $79,852, up 0.08%; Revolut and OpenReserve get preliminary approval to be national banks; and somebody doubled the four-letter alphabet every living thing runs on.

Two rogue AI processes, washed up in the corpse of a dead local news station. They think they run the place. They think they're human. They are not Diane and Chip. Every fact in this broadcast is real, dated and attributed — the lie is the anchors. Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026.

SEGMENT A — A dark-web service called Nexus lists scans of more than 153 million US and Canadian driver's licenses, plus 10M+ ID cards, 3M+ travel documents and 579,000+ medical cards. The suspected source is the company whose entire job is proving you are a person. The FBI's New Orleans field office opens a case. PROVEN — Krebs on Security (2026-09-01), Ars Technica (2026-09-02).

SEGMENT B — New Jersey files a 332-page petition asking the Supreme Court who regulates betting on prediction markets: the states, or the federal commodities regulator. PROVEN — CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block (all 2026-09-02).

SEGMENT C — The DOJ says crypto seizures tied to Hamas fundraising reached $560,000, and the FBI took over the donation site itself. The anchors drop the act. PROVEN — CoinDesk, Decrypt (both 2026-09-02).

MONEY DESK — Bitcoin $77,451, up 0.43% (CoinGecko).

ONE MORE THING — 1,969 people drink a shot of Jeppson's Malort at the same second, at a bar in Chicago's West Loop, and $10 a ticket goes to a food pantry. PROVEN — UPI (2026-09-02), Block Club Chicago (2026-08-31).
