Daily Bible Reading: Matthew 18, read in full from the World English Bible (WEB).
Matthew 18 opens with the disciples asking who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, and Jesus answers by setting a little child in the middle of them: unless we turn and become as little children, we will not enter at all. He warns against causing one of these little ones to stumble, and tells of the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to search for the one sheep that went astray, because the Son of Man came to save that which was lost. He shows how to win back a brother who sins, and promises that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in the middle of them. Then Peter asks how often he must forgive, and Jesus says not seven times but seventy times seven, telling of a servant forgiven a debt he could never repay who would not forgive a fellow servant a small one. We who have been forgiven so much by the King are called to forgive our brother from the heart.
