Today we received the sad news that Mat Weasel has passed away. The man who put upbeat, fast-paced tekno on the map. The man who, in the mid-2000s, introduced old-school gabbers to cheesy but brilliant happy hardcore (let’s please not get too caught up in pigeonholing people). He performed at Audio Active on several occasions. The good old days that Rave-O-Lution co-organised some raves with The Hague Terror Squad + P.L.U.R. That was on the evening before St Nicholas’ Day in 2009. We were at Musicon, a small pop venue in The Hague South-West. It was quite an intimate setting, but he gave it his all – he really went for it! Mat, thanks for all the lovely memories. REST IN POWER!
