The Gospel of Mark Biblical Exposition series you are now listening to consists of sixteen chapters and is divided into four volumes. This fourth volume covers chapters thirteen through sixteen. The content is organized by topic and divided into three sections: Biblical Exposition, Question-and-Answer, and Sermon. The Gospel of Mark (III), Seen from the Perspective of the Gospel of the Water and the Spirit leads us to examine ourselves—we who claim to know Jesus, yet put our own thoughts and our own standards ahead of His Word. The kingdom of heaven is not obtained by human goodness or effort; it is a kingdom received by believing, with the purity of a little child, in the work of salvation that Jesus completed through the baptism He received from John the Baptist, the Cross, and His resurrection. This book makes clear that salvation is entirely the grace of God, and at the same time it tells us that those who have been saved must seek God's glory and the good of souls rather than their own desires and honor, and must live serving the least. Furthermore, it leads us to turn away from a faith that puts forward only religious form and self-righteousness, like a fig tree with nothing but leaves, and to walk with the living God, believing His Word and bearing the fruit of love and gospel proclamation. ● Scripture quotations used in this book are from the ‘New King James Version (NKJV)’, ‘American Standard Version (ASV)’. ● This audiobook is an original human creation based on the sermons of Rev. Paul C. Jong. Dear readers, the world speaks as though the power and the buildings and the institutions that are seen will last forever. But everything that man boasts of collapses in the end. Though heaven and earth pass away, the words of Jesus will not pass away. The last part of the Gospel of Mark awakens us to stand firm upon the eternal gospel, not letting our hearts be taken by the things that will disappear, and to wait by faith for the Lord who will come again.

Mark chapter 13 is the chapter in which Jesus foretold the destruction of the temple and taught His disciples concerning the signs of the last days, the tribulation, and His second coming. When one disciple marveled at the magnificence of the temple, Jesus said that not one stone would be left upon another and that all of it would be thrown down. When Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked when that would happen and what sign there would be, Jesus first warned them not to be deceived by false christs. Wars, earthquakes, and famines would arise, but by these alone one must not conclude that the end has already come, and He said that these things are the beginnings of sorrows. The disciples might stand before councils, synagogues, and those in power because of the gospel, and might even be rejected by their families, but the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. After the great tribulation and the deception of false christs, the Son of Man will come in the clouds with great power and glory and will gather those whom He has chosen. But since no one knows that day and hour, we must not calculate dates or be shaken by the rumors of the world, but must faithfully do the work entrusted to us and always stay awake.

Mark chapter 13 begins with the scene in which the disciples look at the magnificent temple building and marvel. But Jesus said that not one stone would be left upon another and that it would all fall down. No matter how firm a building and a religious institution may look, they cannot be eternal if they refuse the will of God. On the other hand, the salvation that Jesus Christ accomplished and His Word do not disappear even though heaven and earth pass away. Those who believe must build their faith upon the unchanging gospel rather than upon outward scale and glory.
