In this conversation, Charlie Coode speaks with Mark Cuddigan, CEO of THIS and former CEO of Ella’s Kitchen, about building businesses, transforming culture and creating organisations where people can do their best work.
Mark shares the leadership lessons he took from Ella’s Kitchen, where he helped grow the business from around £25m turnover and 30 people to almost £100m and 100 people. He reflects on the influence of founder Paul Lindley, including the importance of purpose and a leader’s ability to see potential in people before they see it in themselves.
He also explores the challenges that come with growth: changing structures, bringing in new capabilities and recognising that the people who help build a business are not always the people who take it into its next phase.
