പീക്കുവിന് പീലി വിരിച്ചാടാൻ വലിയ ഇഷ്ടമാണ്. പക്ഷെ അവന്റെ നൃത്തം കാണാൻ കാട്ടിൽ ആർക്കും നേരമില്ല. എല്ലാവർക്കും തിരക്കാണ്. ഒരിക്കൽ പീക്കു ഒരു പുഴക്കരയിലേക്ക് വെള്ളം കുടിക്കാൻ പോയതായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോൾ അവിടെ വേറെയും ചില മൃഗങ്ങളൊക്കെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കാൻ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ചിലർ പുഴക്കരയിൽ അൽപ സമയം വിശ്രമിക്കുന്നുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോൾ പീക്കുവിന് തോന്നി, 'ഇപ്പോൾ എല്ലാവരും ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ, ഞാൻ അന്ന് പഠിച്ച ആ നല്ല നൃത്തം ഇപ്പോൾ കാണിച്ചു കൊടുത്താലോ'. എന്നിട്ടോ? കഥ കേട്ടോളൂ...

കാറ്റാടിക്കാടിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ മുളങ്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും പുൽമേടുകളും നിറഞ്ഞ ഭാഗത്തായിരുന്നു തമ്പു എന്ന ആനക്കുട്ടി അവന്റെ അമ്മ ആനയ്ക്കും കാട്ടാനക്കൂട്ടത്തിനും ഒപ്പം താമസിച്ചിരുന്നത്.വലിയ ചെവികളും, തുമ്പിക്കൈയും ഉണ്ടക്കണ്ണുമൊക്കെയുള്ള തമ്പു ആ കാട്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും വികൃതിയായ കുട്ടിയാനയായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴും അവന്റെ കണ്ണിൽ ഒരു കുസൃതി ഒളിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടാകും.
