Do you remember the Berenstein Bears? Do you remember Sinbad playing a genie? You’re definitely not the only one — and according to the record, those memories aren’t quite what really happened.

In Episode 11 of Within the Glasswood Forest, Jonathon Guidry and Sarah Guidry go down the rabbit hole of the Mandela Effect, time travel, the butterfly effect, alternate timelines, and whether one small change could reshape everything that follows.

We start with Ray Bradbury’s classic short story A Sound of Thunder, where a single crushed butterfly changes the future, and use it as the doorway into some of the most famous Mandela Effect examples: Berenstain vs. Berenstein Bears, Looney Tunes vs. Looney Toons, “Luke, I am your father,” and the Sinbad genie movie so many people swear they remember.

From there, we compare different ideas of time travel. Does changing the past rewrite your future, like A Sound of Thunder and Back to the Future? Or would it simply create a new branch of reality, like Future Trunks in Dragon Ball Z?

Then the conversation widens. We talk about how much of what we grew up calling science fiction is now just Tuesday: AI you can talk to, video calls across the country, robots that vacuum your floors, and technology that once would have sounded impossible. We get into UFOs, future technology, why flying cars may be a terrible idea, and some very real helicopter emergency landings from years spent working offshore.

We also get into storytelling: heroes, villains, tragedy, and why character arcs like Piggy, Darth Vader, Harvey Dent, and Attack on Titan stay with us.

And then we ask the real question:

If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be?

And that becomes the point of the episode: you don’t have to believe in time travel to believe that the decisions you make today can affect people far beyond your own lifetime. One choice leads to another. One generation shapes the next.
