• 107 | When Your Life Doesn’t Look Like You Thought It Would
    2026/10/21

Have you ever looked at someone else’s life and felt a reaction that seemed much bigger than the moment?

Maybe her marriage, family, career, body or new beginning stirred something in you that you immediately labeled jealousy or comparison.

But trying to shame yourself out of those feelings usually doesn’t get to the real issue.

Sometimes comparison is touching grief over the life you thought you would have by now.

In this episode, we’re talking about the losses in midlife that rarely get acknowledged, why comparison can reveal where something still hurts, and how grief can help you recognize what still matters deeply to you.

I’m also sharing a personal piece of my own story about realizing how far I had moved away from a dream I once believed would always be part of my life, and what happened when I finally allowed myself to grieve it with God.

This episode is for you if life looks different than you imagined and you’re trying to figure out how to honor what was lost without allowing it to decide what happens next.

You’ll walk away with a different question to ask when comparison hits:

What does this reveal that still matters to me?

    And ultimately:

What do I want to do with the life I have now?

If this conversation brings something up for you, I created the Comparison Cleanse for exactly this kind of work. I pray over you each day as you go through it and help you begin bringing some of this pain to God instead of carrying it into every comparison.

  • 106 | Makeup Over 50: 5 Habits That May Be Working Against You
    2026/10/07

Have you ever put on your makeup exactly the way you always have, looked in the mirror a few hours later and thought, “Why does this suddenly look so different?”

Your foundation is finding every dry line. The smoky eye you used to love is smudging into the little creases around your eyes. Your eyeliner seems to be making your eyes look smaller instead of more defined.

The problem may not be your face.

A lot of us are still applying makeup using techniques we learned on a very different face, and those old habits don’t always give us the same result in midlife.

In this episode, I’m sharing 5 makeup habits worth rethinking after 50, including how much foundation and powder you really need, why your eyeliner placement matters, what moving your blush can do for the face, and how to add definition as our features naturally begin to soften.

We’ll also talk about why I am NOT interested in giving you another list of things women over 50 are no longer “allowed” to wear.

Wear the shimmer. Wear the lipstick. Have fun with your makeup.

This episode is for you if makeup has started feeling frustrating, heavier, or simply a little “off” and you want to learn how to work with the woman you are now.

In this episode: - Why more foundation can actually call more attention to texture - Where powder can help and where it may be making dryness more obvious - How full-wrap eyeliner can visually make the eye look smaller - Simple eyeliner and eyeshadow placement changes I use on my own eyes - Why blush placement can change the direction your eye follows - What my nanny taught me about trying to recreate definition as our features soften - Why changes in your face don’t mean makeup no longer looks good on you

Most importantly, remember: you are not signing a lifelong contract with your makeup. Move the blush. Try less powder. Change the eyeliner. Play with it. It washes off.

  • 105 | Beauty Is a Microphone: Cheryl on Pageantry, Purpose & Femininity
    2026/09/30

What if beauty was never supposed to be the whole message?

My sister Cheryl spent most of her early life as a tomboy. Then she entered a pageant, expecting to lose, and eventually became Mrs. Tennessee.

What surprised both of us was how much that season taught her about far more than hair, makeup, dresses, and crowns.

In this episode, we're talking about beauty as a platform for purpose, rediscovering parts of your femininity you may have ignored, and what happens when another woman's beauty stops feeling like competition.

Cheryl also shares one of my favorite ideas from the conversation: beauty and pageantry can be a “microphone” for what is already inside you.

    You'll hear us talk about:

    • what made Cheryl enter pageantry in the first place • how it changed the way she experienced her femininity • why she wasn't intimidated competing beside 51 other women • the stereotypes we both once believed about pageant women • what Cheryl calls “fractured femininity” • how she intentionally stays connected to her feminine side today • what she hopes women take away from Crowned in Beauty

This was originally part of my book launch celebration, so you're also getting a very real sister-to-sister conversation, including a few stories I could never tell quite the same way without her sitting beside me.

If this conversation makes you want to go deeper into the ideas Cheryl and I are discussing, read Crowned in Beauty

  • 104 | Finding Your Style and Confidence After 50 with Sherrie Fisher
    2026/09/24
    Podcast Show Notes

Have you ever looked at a closet full of clothes and thought, “Why do I have nothing to wear?”

Sometimes the problem isn’t that we need more clothes. We’ve simply stopped seeing what we already own with fresh eyes, or we’ve gotten so used to dressing “safe” that we’ve forgotten what actually feels like us.

In this episode, I’m joined by my friend Sherrie Fisher, Certified Master Life Coach, host of the Soul Journey Podcast, and the woman behind the wonderfully fun “What the Walmart?” fashion videos.

We’re talking fashion after 50, but this conversation quickly turns into something bigger: courage, confidence, color, self-expression, and giving yourself permission to experiment again.

    You’ll hear us talk about:

    • stretching summer pieces into fall with simple layering • an easy way to start mixing patterns • using accessories to make basic outfits feel intentional • experimenting with colors outside the “rules” • why courage often comes before confidence • noticing the styles you admire in other women as clues to what may be calling you • the connection between taking care of yourself and remembering that you matter

I also share the story of the green leopard-print dress that made me realize I wanted to be seen more than I had been willing to admit.

And stay through the end because Sherrie leads us through a beautiful breath prayer around comparison, confidence, and showing up as the woman God created you to be.

  • 103 | Can Christian Women Love Beauty Without Becoming Vain?
    2026/09/16

Have you ever loved a beautiful dress, enjoyed doing your makeup, cared about your skin, or simply wanted to feel beautiful... and then wondered what someone else might think about you for caring?

For Christian women, beauty can get complicated fast.

The world gives us one definition of beauty. Scripture gives us a much deeper one. And somewhere in between, many of us have picked up ideas about vanity, modesty, appearance, and what a “godly woman” is supposed to look like.

In this episode, we’re opening Chapter 4 of Crowned in Beauty: The Lie That Beauty Is Vanity and drawing a clearer line between beauty and vanity.

I’m sharing the pageant story that challenged some of my own assumptions about beauty, how I realized I had been judging what was happening in someone’s heart by what I could see on the outside, and why Esther’s story made me rethink beauty as part of preparation rather than something automatically shallow.

We’ll also look at why Esther’s beauty opened a door, while her character and favor helped her carry what came next.

This episode is for the Christian woman who loves beauty but does not want beauty to define her, and who wants to enjoy skincare, fashion, makeup, and feeling beautiful without constantly wondering whether someone else will misunderstand her.

By the end, I hope you’ll have a better question to ask than, “Does this look vain?”

    Instead:

What place is beauty holding in my life?

    That is where discernment begins.

    SCRIPTURE MENTIONED

  • 102 | The Beauty Rules You’re Still Living By
    2026/09/09
Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I’m just low-maintenance,” “I don’t like attention,” or “I’m more comfortable behind the scenes”? What if those statements didn’t begin as personality at all? What if they started as protection? A comment about your body. A moment of embarrassment. A relationship where being noticed felt unsafe. A message about modesty or vanity that landed harder than anyone realized. Those moments do more than hurt. They teach. And when those lessons go unquestioned long enough, they start shaping the way you dress, receive compliments, use your voice, and decide whether it feels safe to be seen. In this episode of Making Life Beautiful Again, we continue our Crowned in Beauty book tasting by opening Chapters 2 and 3 and talking about what happens when the wound becomes the teacher. We’ll look at how protection can start looking like personality, why hiding can continue long after the original season has passed, and how Christian women can begin attaching spiritual language to behaviors that are actually rooted in fear. We’ll also look at Esther’s own season of hiding and why her story gives us an important distinction: hiding can have a purpose, but it was never meant to become an identity. This episode is for the woman who has started wondering whether the quieter, more careful version of herself is really who she is or simply who she learned to become. • 101 | Why You Don't Feel Like Yourself Anymore After 40
    2026/09/02
Have you ever looked at an old photo of yourself and thought, “There she is”? Maybe you assumed you were missing your younger face, your old body, or the woman you were before midlife changed so much. But what if you’re actually missing something deeper? In this special Episode 101, I’m opening Crowned in Beauty for our very first book tasting and sharing part of Chapter One, “Do You Remember the Last Time You Twirled?” We’re talking about the little girl who enjoyed being herself before beauty became something she evaluated, compared, fixed, or questioned. In this episode, you’ll hear:
    • why looking at your younger self can stir up more than nostalgia
    • what we may really mean when we say, “I don’t feel like myself anymore”
    • why feeling like yourself again doesn’t mean becoming your younger self again
    • what Hadassah, before she became Queen Esther, can teach us about identity and becoming
    • one simple question that can help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that still belong in this season
Here’s the question I want you to carry with you: What did you know about yourself before you learned to question it? • 100 | What Are You Tuning Into? Frequencies, Stress + Your Face After 40
    2026/08/27

    Hello beautiful!

Have you ever noticed how one conversation can leave you feeling peaceful while another has your jaw clenched and your shoulders up around your ears?

Or how a certain song, scent, room, person, or even the thoughts running through your own mind can completely change how you feel?

In this episode, we’re talking about everyday frequencies and the inputs your mind, body, and spirit are responding to all day long.

And yes, we’re going to talk about David and Saul.

Long before we had words like emotional regulation, Scripture gives us this fascinating picture of David playing his harp and Saul experiencing relief. It raises an interesting question: What are we tuning into, and how might it be affecting the way we feel and even the way we carry our face and body?

    We’ll talk about:

    • What I mean when I use the word “frequency”
    • The surprising ways frequency and sensory input show up in everyday life
    • How sound, words, people, color, scent, thoughts, and our surroundings can affect us
    • Why stress and emotional tension often show up in the jaw, brow, breathing, posture, and facial expression
    • The David and Saul story and what music can teach us about the way we respond to our environment
    • Why the most important question may be less about what you need to tune out and more about Who you are tuning into first

Because you can spend all day trying to control every input around you, or you can build your day on a stronger foundation.

For me, that foundation is Papa God.

Psalm 3:3 calls Him the One who lifts my head, and that has become an important part of how I think about beauty, face exercise, emotional regulation, and the way we care for ourselves as Christian women.

Ready to practice this with me?

I’ve brought these ideas together in my 12-Minute Non-Surgical Facelift for Women Over 40, combining face exercise with Scripture, intentional thought, breathing, emotional regulation, and supportive sensory inputs.

It’s designed for the woman who wants to care for her face and spend intentional time with God without adding another long routine to an already-full day.

You can purchase the course and continue practicing with me inside the membership for $12/month.

    https://makinglifebeautifulagain.com/12-minute-facelift-690560

Because before we worry about lifting everything we see in the mirror, we can tune into the One who lifts our heads.
