As we have seen in the narrative of Ruth, God is working behind the scenes in the life of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz. While God is no doubt working in the background of their life, what helped turn their heartbreak into hope, was their faithful responses in the middle heartbreak. The decisions that Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz made left a legacy that everyone of us in this room today are getting to experience. God can do the same thing in your story too. The faith filled decisions that you and I make today will outlive us and bless future generations we will never see. As we read this text, may we all be reminded that God is working behind the scenes, but also through our everyday acts of faithfulness, creating a legacy of faith.

Ruth was so close to redemption, but knowing that you have a redeemer and responding to the redeemer are two different things. In this text, Ruth makes a bold move to put herself in a place to be redeemed. Ruth’s response is symbolic of our own response. What brings about changing in our life is not just knowing we have a redeemer but putting ourselves in a place to be redeemed. Today we will look at Ruth and Boaz‘s responses and what we can learn about our own responses, redemption, and rest.

Ruth and Naomi found themselves in the middle of one of the darkest points in Israel’s history. Like Naomi, it would be easy and maybe normal to only ask “why?” when we’ve lost so much. But thank God for people like Ruth that come alongside us when we’re asking “why?” Although hurt, both Naomi And Ruth take a step that changes their lives and their future families lives. These women’s steps are symbolic of the ones that you and I choose to make that also change the course of our lives and others too. When we’re completely broken, we can still see the presence, power, and providence of a very good God.
