A guitar part can be “jazzy,” a little busted, and still perfect if it serves the song and that’s the thread we keep pulling while we listen through Mac DeMarco’s 2. We’re Chris and Tim, and we treat this one like a track-by-track album review with three guideposts: guitar playing, storytelling, and songwriting. If you’ve ever tried to explain why lo-fi indie rock feels so personal, this is our attempt to put real words to it.

We start with “Cooking Up Something Good,” geeking out on DIY overdubs, echo, and the way DeMarco stacks simple parts into a signature guitar tone. From there we hit “Dreaming,” talk about lyrics that don’t need a novel to land, and then let “Freaking Out the Neighborhood” kick off a very honest detour about actual neighbors, everyday weirdness, and why humor belongs in songwriting.
