  • Symposium | Advanced systemic mastocytosis: Therapeutic landscape: Evidence-based strategies across the disease spectrum
    2026/08/04

At the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2026 Congress, June 11–14, 2026, Stockholm, SE, the MPN Hub held a symposium, titled Advanced systemic mastocytosis: Redefining the disease, rethinking patient outcomes. During the symposium, Alessandro Vannucchi, University of Florence, Florence, IT, discussed evidence-based treatment strategies across the disease spectrum of advanced systemic mastocytosis (AdvSM).

In this presentation, Vannucchi reviews the evolving therapeutic landscape in AdvSM, highlighting considerations that influence treatment selection across disease subtypes. Vannucchi discusses historical and contemporary treatment approaches, clinical evidence for KIT-targeted therapies, evolving goals for treatment, and emerging therapeutic strategies that may further inform future clinical management.

  • Symposium | Looking ahead: Future directions and unanswered questions in AdvSM
    2026/08/02

At the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2026 Congress, June 11–14, 2026, Stockholm, SE, the MPN Hub held a symposium, titled Advanced systemic mastocytosis: Redefining the disease, rethinking patient outcomes.

The symposium closed with a panel Q&A session with live audience participation. The panelists, Deepti H Radia, Andreas Reiter, Johannes Lübke, and Alessandro Vannucchi, discussed key challenges in advanced systemic mastocytosis (AdvSM), including underdiagnosis and complexities in the management of SM with an associated hematologic neoplasm (AHN), and mast cell leukemia (MCL). They also discussed emerging combination therapies and highlighted allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) as the only potentially curative option in AdvSM, emphasizing the importance of optimal disease control prior to transplantation.

  • Symposium | Advanced systemic mastocytosis: Diagnosis, risk stratification, and response assessment in 2026
    2026/07/30

At the European Hematology Association (EHA) 2026 Congress, June 11–14, 2026, Stockholm, SE, the MPN Hub held a symposium, titled Advanced systemic mastocytosis: Redefining the disease, rethinking patient outcomes. During the symposium, Johannes Lübke, University Hospital Mannheim, Mannheim, DE, delivered a presentation on diagnosis, risk stratification, and response assessment in advanced systemic mastocytosis (AdvSM).

Lübke discusses the current diagnostic framework for systemic mastocytosis, emphasizing the need for integrated disease assessment beyond established diagnostic criteria. He explores the role of molecular profiling in prognostic risk stratification, evolving prognostic models in the era of KIT-targeted therapy, current and emerging approaches to response assessment, and the complementary role of patient-reported outcomes in evaluating disease burden and treatment benefit.
