For years, author, musician and cryptid researcher Lyle Blackburn traveled the swamps and forests surrounding Fouke, Arkansas, documenting stories of the legendary creature associated with Boggy Creek.
Then one evening, something happened to him.
After hours spent moving through muddy swamp bottoms, searching for an unusual collection of animal bones, Lyle caught movement in the brush. At first, his mind tried to make it into something familiar: a hog, maybe even another person.
Then it stood upright.
Lyle joins Stories with Saint to tell the story of the encounter he describes as seeing a “living shadow”, and what happens when years of researching the unexplained suddenly become personal.
This episode begins our October guest-story series, a month of strange true stories from friends in the paranormal and unexplained before Season 2 of our narrative podcast begins.
Stories with Saint is created and hosted by Elizabeth Saint.
Original music and score by Al Creedon. Sound design by Jordan Suckley and Stuart Barefoot.
