Gary Cooper reprises his celebrated screen role as Lou Gehrig in this adaptation of the 1942 film, tracing the Yankees first baseman’s rise in baseball alongside his courtship of Eleanor Twitchell, played by Virginia Bruce. Adapted for radio by George Wells from the Paul Gallico story, the drama captures the public demands and private life of the player known as the “Iron Horse.”
Lux Radio Theater presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
