When people say, “It’s God’s time, not my time,” sometimes we make that sound real spiritual, but we don’t always understand what it means.

We live in a fast-paced world. Everything is now. We want the relationship now. We want the money now. We want the business now. We want the breakthrough now. And when it doesn’t happen fast enough, we start thinking nothing is happening.

But sometimes God’s timing isn’t just about waiting on God. Sometimes it’s about God waiting on us to be ready.

Following Jesus feels easy when the miracle is happening, the worship is hitting, and the Word feels good. But what happens when His teaching gets hard?

In John 6, many disciples walked away—but Peter stayed and said, “Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

What happens when the miracle is over?

In John 6, the crowd goes looking for Jesus after He fed the 5,000—but Jesus exposes something deeper: they wanted another meal, while He wanted to give them something that would last forever.

How often do we do the same thing?

We go to church, worship, hear the Word, and leave feeling full—but by the time we get home, the anxiety comes back. The pressure returns. The arguments start. The anger, bitterness, fear, and stress creep right back in.

Maybe the problem isn't that we need another temporary filling.

Maybe we're hungry for the wrong thing.

In John 6:22–40, Jesus shifts the conversation from physical bread to eternal life and declares:

“I am the bread of life.”
