• Preface
    2026/09/11

To read the Gospel of Luke is not to learn merely as knowledge the lessons about the lost sheep and the steward, about faith and prayer. It is to know how God sought and saved lost sinners, and to believe in the heart the gospel of the water and the Spirit that Jesus Christ completed with the baptism He received from John the Baptist, the Cross, and the resurrection. Volume 4 of the Gospel of Luke shows what the person who has believed in this salvation must rejoice in, whom he must rely on, and what he must live for. The person who has received the remission of sins gives thanks for the grace of God and serves the gospel together with the Church.

  • Ch15_01_Biblical Exposition_Part 1 Understanding the text passage by passage and its gospel-based interpretation
    2026/09/11

Luke chapter 15 continues with the parables of the lost sheep, the lost drachma, and the son who left home. The three parables look different, but their center is the same. God seeks the soul that has been lost because of sin, and He rejoices greatly when that soul comes to know the salvation of God and receives the remission of sins.

  • Ch15_02_Biblical Exposition_Part 2 God, who seeks and saves the lost sinner
    2026/09/11

In Part 1 above, we looked at each passage of Luke chapter 15 side by side, through the general interpretation of the text and through the perspective of the gospel of the water and the Spirit. Now, following the flow of the same text, we will look in detail at the heart of God, who seeks the lost sinner; the grace that restores the sinner who has returned; and the faith that abandons its own righteousness and takes part in the joy of saving souls.

Luke chapter 15 records the parable of the lost sheep, the parable of the lost drachma, and the parable of the lost son, which is commonly called the parable of the prodigal son. Through the joy of recovering what was lost, the three parables show how greatly God rejoices when one sinner repents and returns to God.

  • Ch15_04_Sermon_The work of the triune God, who saved the lost sheep (Luke 15:1-7)
    2026/09/11

The word of Luke chapter 15, from verse 1 to verse 32, which we will look at today, is made up of three themes. In the word we have read today, there appears the story of a man who had a hundred sheep, lost one of them, and searched for that one sheep. The second is the story of a drachma lost inside the house. It is the word that a woman lost the money, and since it could not be seen however much she searched, she moved out the wardrobe, pulled up the floor covering, swept and wiped, found it, and rejoiced.

We have greeted a new year. Looking back on the year that has passed, there are many things we could not finish and many things we regret. But rather than merely having a new heart because the year has changed, we come to think about how we should do the work of God.

  • Ch15_06_Sermon_The Lord, who seeks those who are lost (Luke 15:1-32)
    2026/09/11

How are you? In the Bible, God sought the lowly. Our God said that when we invite guests and serve them food, we should invite not the rich but the poor. He said that then we would be repaid at the resurrection of the just. Why is that? It is because if we invite the rich and serve them food, the rich repay us, and so there is no reward to receive before God. That is why our Lord said such a thing. Look also at the people who met our Lord. The Lord saved the lacking and the weak rather than the great and the outstanding.
