In this episode of our Love Languages series, were talking about physical touch -- not just as a love language, but as one of the ways god created us to experience love, comfort, connection, and presence.

For some moms, physical touch is deeply comforting. For others, after a day of children climbing on them, needing them, and touching them constantly, the thought of one more person reaching for them can feel overwhelming. Many of us find ourselves somewhere in between.

Jesus showed us that love doesn't always keep its distance. He took children in his arms and blessed them. He reached out and touched those others avoided. He came near.

Together, we talk about how physical touch can communicate:

  • "I'm here"
  • "You matter"
  • "You're not alone"

We also talk honestly about the ways physical touch can become complicated in motherhood -- feeling "touched out", struggling with different needs in marriage, feeling guilty when you don't want to be touched, or giving physical affection out of duty rather than genuine connection.

This episode is an invitation to consider how we can receive and give physical touch in a healthy, intentional way-- with our spouses, our children, and the people we love.

In this episode, we talk about...

  • How Jesus demonstrated love through physical presence and touch
  • The difference between being touched and truly feeling connected
  • How our childhood experiences with affection shape us
  • The reality of being "touched out" as a mom
  • Why receiving love can sometimes be harder than giving it
  • Hugging before correcting our children
  • Creating small intentional moments of connection
  • Allowing affection to grow and change as our children grow
  • Choosing to come near, even when love requires intentionality and sacrifice
