Our love language series continues and we've decided to create a 2 for 1 by joining together two beautiful expressions of love; Receiving Gifts and Acts of Service! Together we look at how God first demonstrates these love languages to us and how His example transforms the way we love our spouses, children, friends, and those around us.
Motherhood often leaves us pouring ourselves out through endless acts of service that can feel unnoticed or expected. We also wrestle with receiving help, accepting gifts, or believing we're worthy of either. In this conversation, we unpack the difference between serving out of obligation and serving from a heart of love -- and why intentionality matters so much more than the size of the gesture.
In this episode, we discuss...
- Why Jesus modeled servant hearted love throughout His ministry
- How God's greatest gift to us is salvation- and how his daily gifts remind us that we are seen. difference between joyful service and serving from resentment or people-pleasing.
- Why thoughtful gifts communicate, "I was thinking about you"
- How comparison and expectations can rob the joy from giving and receiving
- The unique challenges motherhood brings to both of these love languages
- Practical ways to intentionally love your spouse and children through service and thoughtful gifts
- Learning to receive love with humility and gratitude
This weeks challenge...
Choose one intentional act of service for someone you love without expecting recognition. Then, surprise someone with a small, thoughtful gift that simply lets them know, "I was thinking of you"
We’d love to hear from you! Do these love languages resonate with you or one of your children? Share your thoughts and experiences with us.
