USC Trojans quarterback Miller Moss debuted with a 6 touchdown performance filling in for Caleb Williams in the Holiday Bowl. It was his first career start. Can he continue with such dominating performances? Spring football for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans is right around the corner so we may learn a bit more sooner than later.

So, who is Miller Moss? He didn’t have extraordinary stats in high school and he hasn’t played that much in two years at USC. We don't have a lot of intel on his abilities but we will try to figure him out on Locked on Big 10. Some quarterbacks that were rumored to be transferring into USC, saw Moss's 6 touchdown performance and decided to go elsewhere so it appears to be his job for the taking. He better be ready. The USC Trojans open with LSU and have dates with the Michigan Wolverines and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

In other football news, now that Alabama's Nick Saban is gone and Jim Harbaugh isn't negotiating a new deal with Michigan football, we look at the highest paid coaches in college football and in the Big 10.

We also check in on the over-achieving Northwestern Wildcats football team. It turns out they don't have a place to play several home games due to the renovations at Ryan Field. What's the plan?

Michigan State football has a long way to go. Jonathan Smith has a big job to do and try to turn things around. While previewing the upcoming spring we will look back at how former Spartans coach Nick Saban indirectly led to today's problems with the Michigan State program. This is more of an amusing look at history and not a criticism.

And, by the way, the first half of the Spartans 2024 football schedule is rough. If they are planning on discovering who they are, they better do it quickly or else we may see a slow start in East Lansing.

Penn State basketball continues to amaze all with their ability to come from behind and win. Four of their seven conference wins came after falling behind by double figures. Last night they trailed the ranked Illinois Fighting Illini by 14 points and found a way to win. Impressive!

The Michigan Wolverines will look to win their fourth straight Big 10 Championship in 2024. However, as spring football approaches the Michigan football team will look a lot different from 2023. That difference starts with the head coach Sherrone Moore taking over for Jim Harbaugh and his first job is to name departed quarterback JJ McCarthy's replacement. Oh, and about twenty players from the 2023 team will be drafted by the NFL in two months. There should be an ample supply of players ready to step up. Other than that, it's business as usual in Ann Arbor. There is still a lot of talent on this team. Even if they take a step backward in 2024 they may still be good enough to contend for a Big 10 title.

Remaining in the state of Michigan, we check in on the 2023 Spartans football coaching staff and report where they all landed following Mel Tucker's departure. It is pretty interesting.

We finish by posting our weekly Big 10 men's basketball Power Rankings. The Illinois Fighting Illini are trying to catch the Purdue Boilermakers. Tom Izzo and his Michigan State Spartans are RED HOT! (Even though they lost Tuesday.) And the Wisconsin Badgers are plummeting at the wrong time of the season.

Ohio State football coach Ryan Day must name a quarterback early in his Title-or-Bust 2024 season. The Buckeyes get an early start to spring ball and hold their annual Scarlet and Gray game at noon on April 13th. Unlike last season, five quarterbacks will compete for the starting job. One is a 5th year transfer, two have been fighting to gain footing on the Buckeyes depth chart for a season and two are 5-star recruits ready to show Columbus what they can do.

Plus Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard insists he wants to stay in Ann Arbor despite another disappointing year. Penn State Football started winter workouts last week and Spring Football is around the corner. James Franklin and his team must revamp their offense if they want to take the next step forward and become an elite program. They are close! Only the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes have been in their way. Good News: There is no Michigan football on their schedule this year as the Big 10 will no longer have divisions. Ohio State is still on the slate and so is Big 10 newcomer USC. The Nittany Lions must add vertical explosiveness to their offensive attack. That was truly their lone weakness last season.
