概要
A pair of goggles fogged on the inside sat in a maintenance room that had been locked all night - and a woman who never swam that day vanished without a trace. The Coast Guard found no body, yet a swim bag with Patricia Becker's fingerprints was hidden behind the pool filter housing; what secret did those fogged lenses and one unidentified partial print protect?
In this episode, we lay out the timeline, the physical evidence found at the Pelham Shore Aquatic Center, and the contradictions in witness accounts and surveillance that forced investigators to ask whether the ocean was a lie. How did a locked room, a missing membership swipe, and two cell phone pings fifteen miles apart dismantle a story everyone accepted?
Person: Patricia Becker
Date: March 11, 2014
Location: Pelham Shore Aquatic Center; Pelham Shore, North Carolina
Status: Deceased (reported later in transcript)
Case: Missing person turned death investigation
- At 8:15 AM on March 12, 2014, Sharon Fisher unlocked a maintenance room and found a pair of swim goggles sitting on a shelf that were fogged on the inside.
- Patricia had checked in 41 times at the aquatic center in the six months before March 11, 2014, and swam laps three mornings a week.
- Patricia’s gray Honda Civic was recorded leaving the aquatic center parking lot at 2:47 PM on March 11, 2014 - 28 minutes before three witnesses saw a woman enter the ocean around 3:15 PM.
- Five days after her disappearance, facilities worker Art Nolan found Patricia’s swim bag pushed against the far wall behind the pool filter housing containing an empty goggles case, a waterproof phone case with no phone, a damp towel, and Patricia’s fingerprints on the drawstring.
- Investigators recovered a partial fingerprint (right thumb and index finger) from the bag that did not match any staff member on file.
