Prepare for a Killer Performance: “Lizzie Borden Gets Engaged” Premieres This Saturday
Broken Arts is thrilled to present “Lizzie Borden Gets Engaged,” an audio play written by the acclaimed Ellen Abrams. Airing Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, this chillingly clever production is part of the latest audio anthology series and promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans of rich storytelling and immersive performances.
This new piece follows in the footsteps of writer Tom’s previous success, “A Serious Scurry of Fluffles,” a fan favorite from Good Vibes Summer Season 1—but don’t be fooled by the lighthearted name. With Lizzie Borden Gets Engaged, Tom and Ellen Abrams dive into deeper, darker waters with flair.
Cath Tran – Taking on a breakout role, Cath is a rising talent in the Broken Arts Ensemble (BAE). Though new to voice acting, she’s already earning attention with her lead role as Willow in Breakroom 11, a spinoff of A Fragile Mind. Audiences should keep an eye on Cath’s continued rise—this debut is sure to impress.
Derek Kingsley – One of BAE’s most decorated talents, Derek brings seasoned charisma to every role. Known for his dual role as Michael/James in both the flagship A Fragile Mind series and the spinoff In Time with Michael Peterson, Derek was also the BAE Best Actor of the Year for Magical Thinking in Good Vibes Summer Season 1. Next up? He’ll star in the titular role of Justin Thyme. A triple-threat performer, director, and now producer—Derek is unstoppable.
Cole Dzubak – A longtime Broken Arts standout, Cole has contributed both onstage and behind the scenes since 2022. A Michigan State University theatre grad, Cole currently works at the University of Michigan and has racked up nominations for Best Director (twice) and Best Actor (Taylor Made), in addition to being an award-winning playwright. He’s well known for his role as Doug McKenzie in A Fragile Mind and At the Cabin.
Bob Sawyer – Making his acting debut with Broken Arts, Bob brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to the ensemble. Since joining BAE, he’s already taken on roles as a producer and editor—now stepping into the spotlight in his first acting role.
Director: Randy Hunt
A true cornerstone of the Broken Arts team, Randy Hunt has directed numerous hits including Telling the Bees, Worth a Try, Go Bump in the Night, and Don’t Want Your Future to Melt. Most recently, he directed Boxes, another standout in the current anthology. A member since 2020, Randy brings deep experience and vision to both directing and acting across BAE’s catalog.
Producer: Ian Ashland
Since joining Broken Arts in 2020 with Quarantine 2038, Ian Ashland has become an indispensable figure in BAE's creative engine. As a producer, executive producer (Justin Thyme), director, and performer, Ian’s versatility and leadership shine. He also produced the quirky fan-favorite Merry Birthday of July.
“Lizzie Borden Gets Engaged” isn’t just another dark comedy—it’s a compelling blend of historical intrigue, psychological tension, and unexpected romance. With a killer script, a powerhouse cast, and a team of seasoned creatives, this new audio drama offers everything Broken Arts fans crave: compelling storytelling, standout performances, and unforgettable vibes.
Whether you're a long-time listener or a newcomer to the world of Broken Arts, this Saturday night premiere is a can’t-miss event. So grab your headphones and mark your calendar—Saturday at 8 p.m. ET—and prepare to be swept away by the eerie charm of Lizzie Borden Gets Engaged.
