Welcome to a very special "LIVE" launch episode of "Live Local, Give Local with Kimberly King." 21 years to the day since the debut of her TV show, Streetside San Diego, Kimberly King is back sharing stories from the city she loves, hoping to inspire all San Diegans to "give where they live." And by "give" we mean giving attention, love, embrace, time, talent, and if you can spare it, some of your treasury!
This episode was recorded live at the launch of OneSD, a powerful new collaborative and unifying program from the Burnham Center for Community Advancement, an event which brought out 600+ of the city's most prominent leaders from all walks of life.
To kick it off, Kimberly was joined by the visionary leader and CEO of the Burnham Center, Tad Parzen as he discusses "One SD," a regional effort to foster bipartisanship and trust, citing a baseline study showing low trust in public institutions. Next to sit down with Kimberly was Andrew Blum from the Burnham Center for Community Advancement who emphasizes the need for welcoming public spaces and community engagement. The conversation continued with Samuel Choi from USD's Nonprofit Institute stressing the importance of local collaboration and mutual aid. To close out the live recording, Kimberly was joined by Susanna Peredo Swap, the Founder and Executive Director from Vanguard Culture who underscores the role of arts in community building and cultural tourism.
