  • She Made Me Do It: Shame, Blame and the Good Mistake in the Biblical Fall
    2023/02/05

In this inaugural episode and first in my four-part series on shame in literature, I (Moira Stelmack) deep dive into the Genesis account of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden. Shame is the first recorded human emotion in the Bible. Why is it experienced only after both consume knowledge. Robert Louis Stevenson has a lovely suggestion. Also, it tells of the origins of fatherhood, as the Lord must take on the burden of disciplining his creations.
