I recently had a conversation with Lindsie Vizethan, host of the PCOS Unfiltered Podcast. I contacted Lindsie after it was disclosed that Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) was renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) to accurately reflect the whole-body nature of the conditionI asked Lindsie: “What are your thoughts?” Lindsie: “I am all for it! I’m actually very encouraged by the shift from PCOS to PMOS because it reflects what many of us have been seeing for years. While the name Polycystic Ovary Syndrome focused attention on the ovaries and reproductive symptoms, it never fully captured what was happening beneath the surface for many women.PMOS recognizes that this is not simply a reproductive condition. It’s a metabolic condition that can affect blood sugar regulation, insulin levels, inflammation, energy, weight, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being. For many women, the metabolic symptoms show up long before fertility concerns ever do.I think this name change has the potential to help both patients and healthcare providers better understand the full picture. It may encourage more comprehensive testing, earlier intervention, and conversations that go beyond symptom management. That said, changing the name doesn’t automatically change the experience of women living with the condition. We still need better education, earlier diagnosis, and a more holistic approach that considers nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, emotional health, and metabolic function.Ultimately, whether someone calls it PCOS or PMOS, my focus remains the same: helping women understand what their bodies are trying to communicate so they can address root causes, advocate for themselves, and create lasting improvements in their health.”Listen to the rest of our conversation and reach out to Lindsie for support. About Lindsie:Lindsie spent almost 20 years in the traditional healthcare system as a nurse being trained to treat symptoms with quick fixes and “band-aid” solutions. She followed the system, checked every box, and believed she understood health — until she became the patient herself. After receiving her own diagnosis, she realized how much was missing from the conventional model. Her healing journey didn’t start with another prescription — it started with a wake-up call: What if this isn’t all there is? Lindsie is the host of the podcast, PCOS Unfiltered, author of the book, "Healing Beyond the Diagnosis" and now helps women move beyond a diagnosis by teaching them how to understand the messages behind their symptoms — especially those who’ve been dismissed, frustrated, or told to “just live with it.” Her powerful 90-day coaching program focuses on mindful eating, nervous system support, hormone balance, and sustainable habit change.Purchase her book on Amazon, “Healing Beyond the Diagnosis: Rewrite Your PCOS Story to Finally Reclaim Your Health”Follow Lindsie on InstagramConnect with Lindsie on LinkedInFriend Lindsie on FacebookSubscribe to Lindsie's YouTube channelListen to Lindsie's Podcasthttps://pcos-unfiltered-nourish-heal-thrive.simplecast.com/Subscribe to Lindsie's newsletter on Substackhttps://substack.com/@healthyeverafterConnect with Reverend Wendy SilversSpeaking Teaching CounselingE: hello@wendysilvers.com Ig: / revwendysilvers Fb: / revwendysilvers X: /x.com/wendysilversSubstack: Rev Wendy - The Mother Heart
