Season 5, Episode 9 has one hell of a set list. The headliner is FELIX MACKENZIE-BARROW from the band, DIVORCE. You may well have heard Divorce championed on BBC 6 Music, or playing live on Jo Whiley's BBC Radio 2 show, or introduced by Clara Amfo & Lauren Laverne on BBC 2 at GLASTONBURY. Or seen them support Mumford & Sons; Everything Everything; Bombay Bicycle Club or The Vaccines. Basically, they're smashing it!

Formed in 2021, Divorce have quickly carved out a name for themselves with their sharp, emotionally intelligent songwriting and unmistakable sound. We talk to Felix about the joy of songwriting, how he started out as an actor, what life is really like on tour, and how he’s learned to face his fears and move through them. Also what it's like to perform in front of thousands of people. Felix is open, thoughtful and funny and it was a delight to chat to him IN PERSON! Yes, our first interview in the actual same room as our guest, and indeed, as each other.

With two new block-rocking comedy sketches, and a band-related chat that will have you wishing you still had a walkman and those little foam covered headphones, it's a supersonic send off for Season 5.

This week's guest LUCY SPEED plays talented farm manager, Stella Pryor in BBC Radio 4's THE ARCHERS - the world's longest running (and best - not biased at all here 😉) soap.

Lucy's career spans theatre, television, film and radio, and began when she was just a child. Lucy has played a multitude of roles across so many genres including DS Stevie Moss in The Bill and Bec Baker—Peter Kay’s wife—in his BBC sitcom Cradle to the Grave as well as countless other fantastic characters in a career that demonstrates her great versatility.

She brings a blend of warmth, wit, and emotional intelligence to every role she plays, and—as you’ll hear—she’s deeply thoughtful about the human experience behind the craft.

In this conversation, Lucy opens up about what it was like working with the legendary Julie Walters, how being an empath has shaped her both personally and professionally, and her hopes for leaving a legacy that changes the way we understand and respond to bullying in everyday life.

Liz rose to prominence in the iconic BBC drama Life on Mars, and has since captivated audiences with her roles in Ackley Bridge, The Woman in Black, Our Zoo, Call the Midwife, and Unforgotten—among many others. A seasoned performer across television, film, and theatre, Liz brings emotional intelligence and authenticity to every role.

We talk to Liz about her love of independent film, her enduring passion for the work, and how having the courage to create her own opportunities early on proved to be a transformative moment in her career. It's a treat of a conversation and we're thrilled she could join us before heading to the National Theatre for a performance of Dear England.

Rebbecca is the founder of Strawberry Words, a dynamic training and consultancy company that specialises in helping individuals and organisations navigate difficult conversations around race, identity, and inclusion with confidence and compassion. With a background in public speaking, performance, and education, she brings a unique blend of creativity, candour, and care to her work.

Through her workshops, keynotes, and consultancy, Rebbecca helps people explore unconscious bias, challenge assumptions, and develop the tools needed to create truly inclusive environments. She is deeply passionate about the power of words, the importance of visibility, and the need for safe spaces where people can be honest, heard, and respected.

We talk to Rebbecca about the significance of cultural awareness, how to approach challenging conversations with empathy, why language matters more than we think, and how we can each play a role in creating a more equitable world. It's a chat that covers a lot of ground, and left both of us inspired and with a renewed energy to learn. We're sure Rebbecca will have the same effect on you. Enjoy!
