What happens when you finally find a place where you fit? In this episode, Johnathan and I talk about the opening of Shrek Jr., the musical he’s performing in, and the hope that can come from discovering a community where you feel like you belong. We talk about how much confidence can grow when someone finds a space where their interests, personality, strengths, and even their differences are welcomed—and why finding that kind of place can change the way you see yourself and your future.

We also talk about how parents can help their kids keep searching until they find those spaces, especially when belonging hasn’t always come easily. Sometimes it’s theater. Sometimes it’s sports, art, gaming, church, music, volunteering, or something completely unexpected. The point isn’t that everyone has to fit into the same place—it’s that everyone deserves the chance to find their place. And when families and communities work together to encourage people instead of trying to make them fit a mold, it reminds all of us that there is more hope out there than we sometimes realize. Keep looking. Your place—and your people—may be closer than you think.
